There is no tolerance in intolerance

Who could believe that the world would be such a crazy place in one short year?  Last year provided a view of the ugliness of human nature in its rawest form.  We attacked each other for every small detail, from the fear of spreading germs, to the fear of the color of one's skin.  We use social media as a way to anonymously destroy other human beings, creating a forum that encourages self doubt, self hate, and self destruction.  Honestly, I slightly ashamed at being a human being.

I believe we are so much more than this behavior.  I saw the term "cancel culture" create an environment of censorship that is constructed not by a government entity, but by individuals with a destructive agenda. We are trying to enforce tolerance through intolerant behavior.  This idealism was the heart of Nazi Germany's Third Reich.  I was a docent for the Ann Frank exhibit years ago, and the idea to condemn people for their genetic birthright, to be intolerant of other's beliefs was at the heart of the cruelty aimed at the Jewish people.  Death was given to not only Jews, but people who spoke up against the actions of the Nazi party.  I remember reading of a young boy who was imprisoned and then killed for passing out flyers asking people to stop the intolerance happening in Germany.  Others did not want to get involved and refused to help him, he died alone for trying to make a difference.

The Nazi party tortured and killed people of different races, birth defects, handicaps, and lifestyle choices, the list is endless.  If you want to truly learn of the wrong that occurred, visit the Holocaust Museum in Washington, DC.

It is through our actions that our children, as in ages 0-50 years old, will learn to accept others. Protesting violence with violence is not the answer. We need to promote equality, respect, acceptance, and tolerance for all beliefs and all peoples.  Tolerance and acceptance is not destroying one person in order to support another.

When was the last time you prayed for your neighbor, gave words of hope, sent letters of support and love to those who may be different than you?  We should be using social media for the good in the world, not the hate.

I am saddened to see that most people are spending their time copying dangerous acts that they see on social media.  Too many children are dying from following a stupid dangerous act.  People are hurting themselves and others all to get attention on social media.

I was in a play in high school called The Lottery, and the person that received the piece of paper with a black dot was stoned to death for no reason, just that everyone in town loved to participate in the murder.  It has stayed with me all these years, and last year I saw that horrific behavior in people.

We much stop the intolerance, and we must learn to love, and bring AGAPE love, back into our society and into our hearts.  God loves each of us, take that love and share it with all people.
